The Road Infrastructure Agency has completed the safety measures on 14 out of the 36 road sections identified as risky due to a concentration of traffic accidents. The activities include pavement repair, installation of road signs and markings, as well as other measures to improve safety on these sections.

The "Road Infrastructure" Agency reported the completion of all planned activities to improve traffic safety in 14 of the 36 sections included in the Plan for Securing Sections with a Concentration of Road Incidents. The safety measures were carried out in the regions of Lovech, Blagoevgrad, Shumen, Vidin, Haskovo, Varna, Ruse, Razgrad, Sliven and Pleven.

In the Lovech region, all planned measures have been implemented on a 100-meter section of road I-4 Bulgarski Izvor - Sopot within the village of Sopot. New road signs have been replaced and installed, pavement repair work has been carried out, markings have been renewed, red markings have been laid to draw drivers' attention, and flexible barriers have been installed.

In the Blagoevgrad region, a section of road I-1 in the Kresna Gorge at km 383 has been secured. In a 100-meter section, road signs have been installed, an asphalt-concrete pavement and transverse rumble strips, as well as markings with the figure 50 km/h on the road surface, have been laid.

This week, activities were completed on both sections with a concentration of road accidents in the Shumen region. At the roundabout for Panayot Volovo at km 112 of road I-2 Shumen - Varna, signs have been installed, the asphalt pavement has been restored, and rumble strips have been laid. On road I-7 at the intersection of the Shumen bypass with the municipal road for the Divdyadovo district (at km 124), road signs have been installed and markings have been laid.

Two sections of road I-1 Vidin - Ruzhinsi in the Vidin region have also been secured. One is approximately 300 meters long, in the area of the village of Skomlyа (at km 53), and the second is about 200 meters in the Dimovo area (at km 42). The routes have been re-asphalted and have new markings and signs.

In the Haskovo region, rumble strips have been laid on a 100-meter section of road I-5 Dimitrovgrad - Haskovo at km 285, completing the planned activities for the site, which include pavement repair, installation of road signs and horizontal markings. On the other section in the region, which is on road II-76 Knyazhevo - Topolovgrad, the transverse rumble strips will be laid next week.

At the end of May, the planned safety measures were implemented in three sections in the Varna region, two of which are on road II-29 Varna - Dobrich in the Varna area (at km 3) and near Aksakovo (at km 10), and the third on road III-208 - at the bridge over the Golya ma Kamchia River near the village of Kamen dyal. In the Ruse region, the planned activities have been carried out on the section of road I-5 Ruse - Byala at the roundabout near Byala (km 51+900). In the Razgrad region, the roundabout on road II-49 Razgrad - Targovishte with road II-51 Chudomir - Loznitsa, in the area of the village of Trapishte, has been secured. In the Sliven region, on road II-55 Panicharewo - Asenovets, in the area of the Zhrebchevo dam, at km 71, all planned activities have been carried out, including replacement of road signs, laying of transverse rumble strips and restoration of road markings. In the Pleven region, the work has been completed at km 130 of road I-3. Signs have been installed, indicating a section with a concentration of road accidents, as well as those limiting the speed. Transverse rumble strips have also been laid.

A map of the sections with a concentration of road accidents, as well as an Action Plan for securing the sections, have been published on the website of the Road Infrastructure Agency. This information is available in the specially created section "Road sections with increased risk" so that citizens can easily familiarize themselves with the data and follow the implementation of the measures.
