Kozloduy nuclear plant will take Unit 6 offline on 8 October 2026 for its annual repairs, the plant said. It plans to finish the work by the end of November.
The shutdown was agreed with the central dispatch centre of the Electricity System Operator after the plant filed a request in advance.
During the outage, workers will carry out the jobs in the annual repair programme. They will service and fully check systems and equipment so the unit runs safely and reliably. The plant also plans work to allow the units to keep operating over the long term.
Workers will load new nuclear fuel into the Unit 6 reactor. When the repairs end, the unit will begin its 32nd fuel cycle.
Unit 5 is still running. How much power it produces depends on the level of the Danube and on whether the plant can get enough water for technical needs.
