Japan Comes to Life in Burgas: Program from July 21 to 24
The Department of Japanese Studies at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" invites residents and guests of Burgas to four exciting evenings dedicated to the Land of the Rising Sun. All events will take place at the NHK Cultural Center with free admission.
"This is another summer where the Japan specialists from Sofia University come to Burgas to share their passion for Japanese culture," the organizers share.
Event Program:
- July 21: Introduction to Japanese history and language with Dr. Martin Dimitrov and Dr. Alexander Ivanov.
- July 22: Summer cinema featuring a screening of Hayao Miyazaki's masterpiece "Spirited Away," with commentary by Prof. Dr. Gergana Petkova.
- July 23: A journey to EXPO 2025, a philosophical look at the Japanese economic model, and the energy of pop culture with Aniventure Comic Con.
- July 24: Women's voices in Japanese literature – a discussion with prominent experts.

The events are part of the initiatives of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" to promote Asian languages and cultures at its Burgas Branch, where bachelor's degree programs in Japanese, Chinese, and Korean are already being developed.
