On June 8, at the "Flora" Exhibition Center in Burgas, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, an event organized by the Institute of Oceanology - BAS, Varna will be held. The goal is to draw attention to the importance of seas and oceans and to encourage responsible practices for the conservation of biodiversity and natural resources of the Black Sea.
The curious children of Burgas, as well as all interested parties, will have the opportunity to get acquainted with various oceanographic instruments and their application for monitoring the marine environment, the methods for sampling and evaluation of different groups of marine plants and animals. Special attention will be paid to the current challenges facing the Black Sea - climate change, eutrophication, invasive species, overfishing, habitat loss, marine litter and others.
The young visitors will be presented with the comic "Journey with Ocean Observers" and the booklet "The Invisible in the Black Sea", prepared by the scientist biologists and ecologists from IO-BAS, illustrated with numerous photographs, a significant part of which are frames of the underwater photographer Lyubomir Klissurov.
The initiative is held within the framework of the project "Black Sea Blue Academy 2025", with the support of OMV Petrom. Partners in the event are the Municipality of Burgas, the Regional Information Center - Burgas, the Association "Green Balkans" and the NGO "Friends of the Sea - Burgas", who will present interactive panels for marine and environmental literacy.
