The exhibition "With Burgas in My Heart" opens on 28 October at 5.30pm at the Atelier gallery. It brings together work by 11 contemporary artists whose lives and careers are closely tied to Burgas.
The show marks National Revival Figures' Day. The works come from the "Sound and Colour" collection and were made between 1999 and 2025.
It features pieces by Atanas Atanasov, Darina Peeva, Dimo Kolibarov, Elena Kaludova, Ivo Bistrichki, Milena Kazakova, Penka Ilieva-Choria and Svetozar Benchev. Work by three artists who have died, Stefan Markov, Stoyan Tsanev and Krastyo Todorov, is also on show.
The shared themes are Burgas, the sea, inspiration and a free creative spirit. Each work has the artist's own style, emotion and sense of time.
The exhibition also refers to the poetry of Hristo Fotev. For the poet, Burgas was belonging, memory, love and freedom, not just a place on a map.
The Culture Fund of Burgas council and the Radosvet Radev Foundation are backing the show. Radio Media is the media partner.
The Atelier gallery is the Burgas branch of the National Academy of Arts. The exhibition runs there until 15 November.
