Historical success for Bulgarian cinema in Cannes
77 years after the legendary film "Tears", Bulgarian cinema achieved impressive success at the Cannes Film Festival. The film "The Dream Adventure", the work of director Valeska Grisebach, who worked with non-professional actors in Bulgaria, won the prestigious Jury Prize.
The film is a large-scale co-production between Germany, France, Bulgaria, and Austria, proving the power of international cooperation.
The Palme d'Or and the big winners
Romanian director Cristian Mungiu made history by winning his second "Palme d'Or" for the film "Fjord". The production examines the sensitive topic of child removal in Norway.
- Grand Prix: Andrey Zvyagintsev for "Minotaur".
- Best Director: Paweł Pawlikowski ("Fatherland") and the duo Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi ("The Black Ball").
Acting achievements
The acting awards were distributed as follows:
- Best Actor: Emmanuel Maquaire and Valentin Campagne ("Deserter").
- Best Actress: Virginie Efira and Tao Okamoto ("Suddenly").
