Dancers from every branch of the Bulgarian folk dance club "Chanove" will parade through the streets of Burgas on Saturday, October 3, the club says. The autumn event marks the club's 17th anniversary.

The parade sets off at 11:00 from the Clock and heads to Troikata Square, where the dancers will be formally introduced at 12:00.

It's not a competition. The club says the point is to promote Bulgarian traditions and show off the group's work in the city. Albena and Sevdalin Trendafilovi run the Burgas branch.

The club was founded in Sofia in 2005, and its Burgas groups have been running since 2009. It now has more than 1,000 members, with branches in six cities: Sofia, Plovdiv, Burgas, Stara Zagora, Chirpan and Kostenets. No other club in the country has that kind of reach.

In Burgas, rehearsals take place in four halls: Lyuben Karavelov school, the new building of Hans Christian Andersen kindergarten, Zvezditsa Zornitsa kindergarten, and the Chernomorka cooperative building near the Trapezitsa roundabout.

Three new beginner groups start this autumn. The first meets in the Lazur neighborhood, at the new building of Hans Christian Andersen kindergarten, from September 29 every Tuesday and Thursday at 19:30. Two more start on October 5 — one in Bratya Miladinovi, at the club's own hall in the Chernomorka cooperative building, and one in Zornitsa, at Zvezditsa Zornitsa kindergarten — both on Mondays and Wednesdays at 19:30.
