Regional authorities in the Stara Zagora Region are initiating a large-scale legislative project aimed at officially recognizing the Rose Festival as a significant cultural event. The proposal envisions annual celebrations between the last week of May and mid-June, covering the most attractive period for rose production.
The legislative initiative aims to promote the rich tradition of rose-growing regions - Kazanlak, Karlovo, and Strelcha. Local municipalities will receive powers to organize special festive activities, including thematic parades, professional competitions for the highest quality rose oil, and the selection of an official Rose Queen.
The event, which has a history of over a century dating back to 1903, has already established itself as an international cultural brand. The new legislative framework will support tourism development and preserve the authentic cultural heritage of the Bulgarian rose region.
