Pietro Caroleo and Vilizar Gichev Hammond Organ Trio Present a Musical Project in Burgas
Burgas is chosen as a stop on the musical tour of a unique project in Bulgaria - the trio Pietro Caroleo and Vilizar Gichev Hammond Organ Trio. On October 30th, in the piano bar "Ten Fingers", music lovers will have the opportunity to enjoy the performances of exceptional musicians and the sound of the Hammond organ - an instrument that is extremely rare. Even more limited is the number of musicians who can master it at a high professional level, even on a European scale.
The idea for creating such a musical format was born in the mind of Vilizar Gichev while he was training in Trieste. It was there that he heard the performance of the famous Hammond organ trio - Peter Bernstein, Larry Goldings and Bill Stewart. The incredible sound of the instrument was imprinted in his mind and became the basis for a long-term dream. Three years followed, dedicated to finding the right musicians and realizing the necessary conditions to make this idea a reality.
In Bulgaria, the presence of such instruments is rare, and a jazz organist with such a creative vision is difficult to find. During his studies at the Conservatory "Santa Cecilia" in Rome - one of the European cities with the most developed jazz scene - Vilizar met Pietro Caroleo at the jam sessions he regularly attended. Pietro is recognized as one of the most impressive and active young jazz pianists in Rome. After a few months, talking to Daniele Cordisco - a famous guitarist from Rome who recorded with Ron Carter - it became clear that Pietro had been playing the Hammond organ since childhood. Then, without any hesitation, Vilizar organized a rehearsal at "Nuccia Studio", where, together with a real Hammond B3 organ, the trio was born with the participation of Teodor Toshkov.
The tour of the new Hammond Organ Trio in Bulgaria covers several large cities. Concerts are scheduled in Sofia - on October 28th in Bar Zh, on October 29th in Sofia Live Club, on October 30th in Burgas in "Ten Fingers", on October 31st in Plovdiv in "Contrabass" and on November 1st in Veliko Tarnovo in "Melon".
The repertoire of the trio includes works by Wes Montgomery, as well as classic jazz standards and original music.

Vilizar and Teodor have already performed several concerts from the series "We & Wes", dedicated to Wes Montgomery - one of the greatest jazz guitarists of all time. He, together with Jimmy Smith, is among the musicians who establish the Hammond organ trio as a classic form in jazz music. The special attitude towards swing, blues riffs, melodic phrases and the powerful energy of live improvisation are elements that make the audience love jazz.
