The film "Ostaynitsa" ("The Remains"), directed by Kostadin Bonev and based on Rene Karabash's novel, will premiere in Burgas on 31 October at the Cinelibri festival, organisers said. Bonev and Karabash will talk with the audience after the screening.
The drama is one of nine titles in the Cinelibri competition. Massimo Foletti was the cinematographer. Bulgaria, Italy and Albania co-produced the film.
The official premiere is tonight, 16 October, at 7pm at the Lumière cinema, followed by a talk with Karabash and Bonev. Albanian actress Althea Lazay, who plays both Bekia and her "alter ego" Matya, will be a guest for the evening. On 17 October she will take part in an event at the Odeon cinema.
"Ostaynitsa" will open the first festival in Pernik on 29 October. It premieres in Plovdiv on 5 November. Bonev and Karabash will talk with the audience in both cities.
The other Bulgarian film in the competition is "Taxi to Paradise", a black comedy by directors Ivan Nichev and Todor Chapkanov. It is based on the novella "Night Vigil" by Dimitar Dinev, an Austrian writer with Bulgarian roots. Velislav Pavlov, Stoyan Doychev, Desi Morales, Daniel Vladimirov and Dilyana Popova play the lead roles.
The premiere screening is on 24 October at the Lumière cinema, where some of the crew will attend. After the film, viewers can share their views and ask questions.
Nichev will talk with viewers after the premieres of "Taxi to Paradise" in Sofia, in Burgas on 6 November and in Plovdiv on 7 November.
