The Bulgarian Orthodox Church marks one of the most significant summer religious holidays – the day of Saint Great Martyr Marina, known as "Fiery Marina" and part of the traditional hot days between July 15 and 17.

Regional cultural practices include a series of symbolic rituals, whose essence is deeply rooted in folk beliefs. Among the most common customs are lighting new hearths, whose sparks are scattered in homes as a message of health and prosperity.

Water ceremonies occupy a central place in the festive tradition. Local communities believe that bathing in natural springs or sacred holy waters, such as the one near Dzhulyunitsa, possesses exceptional healing power, especially for eye health.

As a patron of fire crafts, the saint is honored by blacksmiths, bakers, and potters, who perceive her as their spiritual protector. The holiday unites people with names Marina, Marin, Marinka, Marincho, and Marinela in a common celebration.

The hot days represent more than an ordinary calendar moment – they are a deep expression of reverence for the natural elements and the collective memory of the Bulgarian community.
