In anticipation of the ceremonial celebration of the professional holiday of Bulgarian doctors – October 19th, St. Ivan Rilski Day, the city is preparing to award the Annual "Doctor of Burgas" Awards for 2025. Preparations are in full swing, and an impressive concert-spectacle is planned at the center of the events, scheduled to begin at 6:30 PM at the Cultural Center of NHK. The spectacle will be themed "Art Heals!" and promises to be an unforgettable experience.
The atmosphere in the city heralds a celebration. People are discussing the upcoming event, noting the importance of those who dedicate their lives to the health of others. The concert is planned as an expression of gratitude to the people in white coats, who with dedication and humanity take care of the well-being of all. The organizers expect the presence of nearly 500 Burgas doctors, nurses and specialists from hospitals, diagnostic and consulting and medical centers in Burgas.
The day will begin at 5:30 PM with a prayer service for the doctors in the church of "St. Ivan Rilski". From there, a torchlight procession will start, heading towards the Cultural Center of NHK, where the large concert-spectacle will take place. The "Doctor of Burgas" awards will also be presented there.
The awards will be presented in three categories, reflecting different aspects of medical practice: "For Academic Achievements", "For Long-Term Overall Contribution" and "Our Future - for a Young Doctor". They aim to give due recognition to all doctors in Burgas, who have dedicated themselves to medicine and the care of patients.
The stage will be illuminated by the performances of beloved Burgas artists. The program includes the vocal trio "Deja Vu", the vocal formation "Sea Sand Grains", the soloists of the State Opera – Burgas Lyudmila Mihailova and Yordan Hristozov, the ballet studio "Prestige", the dance school "Estrella", G.P. Band – Burgas, the sports acrobatics club "Naftex 2024", as well as the Professional Folklore Ensemble "Strandja".
The evening will be hosted by Dr. Dorothea Dralcheva and Dr. Alexander Babachev, who will take on the role of hosts of the grand spectacle.
This year, the initiative will unite the cultural institutions of the city – theaters, operas, ensembles, schools and choirs. They will dedicate their art to the Burgas doctors, emphasizing the connection between healthcare and culture.
During the event, video messages from the heads of leading cultural institutions in the city will be broadcast. Among them are Prof. Svetozar Benchev (National Academy of Arts – Burgas branch), Ilya Pepelanov (DT "Adriana Budevska"), Dobrin Vatev (Society of Burgas Artists), Yana Karshiyska (Regional Library "P. K. Yavorov") and others.
The concert is shaping up to be not just an event, but a celebration of unity. It will combine music, dance and words as a sign of gratitude, creating a symbolic bridge between science and art, between the human body and soul.
