The Ministry of Agriculture and Food (MAF) is organizing a National Fish Fest in 2025, the ministry announced. The festival aims to promote fish and fish products, as well as to support Bulgarian fishermen, producers, and processors.

The first edition will be in Varna on November 29 (Saturday) at the Marine Station. Burgas will host on November 30 (Sunday) in the area of the fishing village “Chengene Skele”. Sofia will host the festival on December 5 (Friday) at “Gina Kuncheva” Square.

The program includes educational workshops, games and art activities for children, as well as lectures, demonstrations and consultations for adults. There will be a culinary zone with fish dishes and a restaurant zone “The Taste of the Sea”, where fish will be offered at cost price.

The main goal of the festival is to increase interest in the fishing sector, to stimulate fish consumption and to showcase the wealth of Bulgarian marine and inland water resources. The program is available on Facebook.

BTA recalls that in 2024, the EU's fish catch amounted to 3.2 million tons.
