The Transfusion Hematology Department of UMBAL Burgas, jointly with Pomorie Municipality, are organizing a blood donation campaign on March 19, 2026 (Thursday), from 09:00 to 14:00 at the "Prosveta 1888" Community Center - Pomorie.

The organizers invite everyone who feels healthy and wants to help a person in need to participate in the campaign.

Anyone between the ages of 18 and 65 who is healthy and has not taken any medication for at least 48 hours before the blood donation can be a blood donor. The procedure should not be performed on an empty stomach, and donors should be rested and in good health. After the blood donation, it is recommended to consume more fluids and high-calorie foods. The entire blood collection procedure, including filling out a questionnaire, a medical examination, determining the blood group and hemoglobin, takes about 30 minutes.

The amount of donated blood is restored within 24 hours, and its qualitative recovery - in 3 to 4 weeks.

Blood donation also has health benefits, as it stimulates the renewal of blood cells and strengthens the body's defenses.

Donors receive two days of paid leave in accordance with the Labor Code, as well as access to the results of tests for AIDS, hepatitis B and C, syphilis and blood group.
