The business forum "Kosher 2025" discussed the future of the Bulgarian economy and the role of the state in stimulating innovation. A clear national strategy is needed to overcome the barriers to development and an effective state policy to support businesses.

Experts discussed the future of the Bulgarian economy and the role of the state in stimulating innovation during the business forum "Kosher 2025", held at the Sofia "Inter Expo Center".

The event, which brought together leading figures from the business community, focused on Bulgaria"s path over the next three decades. Key topics included innovation, the role of the state, and overcoming traditional barriers to development.

Looking to the Future

In the panel "Looking to the Future of Bulgaria over the next 30 years", the executive director of the Executive Agency for Promotion of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (EAPSME), Boyko Takov, pointed out that Bulgaria, while unable to position itself as a leader in a specific area, should strive for active participation in solving global problems.

Takov, participating in the discussion along with Maria Hristova (Sofia Municipal Agency for Privatization and Investments), Angelina Borisova ("Anagami Digital Accounting") and moderated by Alexander Nutsov (Bulgarian Entrepreneurship Association), outlined the challenges facing the Bulgarian economy.

He highlighted the presence of numerous innovative startups, but noted that they often remain without sufficient support, "drifting along". Takov pointed to deep technologies as a sector with potential for a significant breakthrough.

Overcoming the lag in innovation requires not only time, but also a clear national strategy and patience. It is necessary to eradicate harmful stereotypes, including the widespread assertion among businesses "The state should just not hinder us". "The state builds the infrastructure, the state is inextricably linked to the economy and business – it is there and will be there", he said, emphasizing the need for effective state policy to support businesses.

During the discussion, Takov presented the mission of EAPSME, focused on supporting small and medium-sized enterprises through "soft" measures. He also announced an upcoming joint project of the agency with Serbia, aimed at developing border regions.

The "Kosher 2025" forum continued the following day at the Center for Contemporary Art "Tochlocentral_q_, promising further discussions and ideas for the future of Bulgaria.
