Hristo Yotsov to Present Chamber Jazz Suite "Zodiac" in Plovdiv and Burgas

Hristo Yotsov presents the chamber-jazz suite “Zodiac” in Plovdiv - on March 30th, and in Burgas - on March 31st, according to the musician's team.

According to them, the musical journey through the 12 zodiac signs is an exciting event for music lovers, in which classical music and jazz are equal: “Each of the twelve pieces, dedicated to the zodiac signs, reveals a different mood and character – from deep lyricism to explosive energy.”

“Zodiac” is a colorful, unique musical kaleidoscope of different expressive pictures, in which the author has woven his interpretation of the musical image of the zodiac signs - a mix of classical chamber music and jazz improvisations, some of which happen directly on stage. The unexpected finale of the chamber-jazz suite includes an additional composition dedicated to the hypothetical 13th zodiac sign “Ophiuchus,” the Yotsov team adds.

On stage, in addition to Hristo Yotsov - percussion, will be Borislav Yotsov - clarinet, Nadezhda Yotsova - piano, Dimitar Karamfilov - double bass, and a quartet of the Pleven Philharmonic, which includes Katya Dancheva - violin, Aleksandrina Stoichkova - violin, Yoana Ancheva - viola, and Hristina Kostova - cello.

So far, “Zodiac” has been presented twice in Sofia, including at the “Sofia Music Weeks” festival, in Veliko Tarnovo – on the occasion of the city's holiday, in Varna – at “Varna Summer”, and in Ruse – at “March Music Days”, and the piece "Scorpio", dedicated to Borislav Yotsov, the composer's brother, has been performed many times at concerts in many cities in Bulgaria with the orchestra of the Pleven Philharmonic. A particularly personal moment in the realization of the project is the participation of the composer's daughter – Nadezhda Yotsova, with whom he is working for the first time in such a format.

The idea for “Zodiac” came at the end of 2023 at the suggestion of film director Mario Krastev, as a musical dedication - an inspiring "letter" to his idol, the Japanese writer Haruki Murakami. The project is conceived as a unique musical message to the writer and combines literary inspiration, philosophy and a contemporary musical language, presented in the work through classical music, jazz and the two quartets.
