Burgas will host the second international forum "Black Sea 2030: Security, Sustainability and Innovation" on 30 October at its International Congress Centre. The Burgas Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced the date.

The organisers are Burgas council and the "Prospects M" association. They say this year's programme offers more chances to network, and young people will take a more active part.

Invitations have gone to representatives of European and international institutions, national and local government, business, universities, the media, and young people interested in the development of the Black Sea region. The forum is meant as a place for talks, an exchange of ideas and new partnerships for the region's future up to 2030.

Talks will cover security in the Black Sea in a changing region, sustainable development of the sea and coastal communities, and the role of science, innovation and new technology.

The first forum took place last year. Former energy minister Zhecho Stankov spoke about the Black Sea's potential to be an energy bridge between Europe and Asia. Charlina Vitcheva, director-general of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, presented European initiatives for the region's sustainable development.

On 2 October the International Congress Centre in Burgas hosted the SPLASH Black Sea 2026 forum, which looked for new solutions for water, the marine environment and the maritime industry in the Black Sea region. Representatives of business, science and the public sector from seven countries took part.

Students from Burgas universities showed projects for monitoring water and environmental solutions. Among the exhibits was the electric yacht "Helios Omega 7.2", built in Burgas.
