The European Erasmus+ Days opened in Burgas with an open day in the conference hall of the Peyo Yavorov Regional Library. Burgas is part of a Europe-wide campaign that shows young people how they can study, take part in exchanges and volunteer across Europe.
This report follows our earlier story on the European Erasmus+ Days in Burgas, which said that students and teachers would present what they learned on trips under the programme.
Participants heard about the youth strand of Erasmus+: youth exchanges, projects for youth workers, DiscoverEU and student mobility, in which students study abroad.
Organisers also presented the European Solidarity Corps and the options young people have to volunteer in Burgas and outside Bulgaria. Volunteers from Turkey, Bulgaria and Ukraine spoke to the audience. They work on the programme in projects run by the Astika foundation and the Delphi Association for Strategic Management.
Drawing on their own experience, they told how volunteering and exchanges abroad open up new chances for young people.
Students from several European countries who study under Erasmus+ joined by video link. They described what they had been through and what they gained from studying abroad. At the end of the event, the audience answered questions in a quiz about young people, Erasmus+ and the European Union.
Those attending included students from the Kolyo Ficheto vocational school of construction, architecture and geodesy, the Vasil Levski vocational school of electrical engineering, the G. S. Rakovski vocational school of radio electronics, the Trade High School and the Goethe German Language School, as well as students from Burgas Free University.
On 14 October 2026, in the same hall, young people and students will talk with volunteers and people who took part in international projects. They will learn how to join similar initiatives.
