Tsarevo honors 123 years since the Ilinden-Preobrazhenie Uprising

Honoring the feat of the Preobrazhenie Uprising participants in Tsarevo

The Municipality of Tsarevo marked 123 years since the outbreak of the Ilinden-Preobrazhenie Uprising. As a sign of gratitude, wreaths and flowers were laid in front of the memorial plaque in the city, the monument to Mihail Gerdzhikov in "Sarnichkite" Park, and the monument to Georgi Kondolov.

"The heroism and self-sacrifice of the Preobrazhenie participants are an integral part of our historical memory," recalled Todor Gondov, Director of the Municipal History Museum, in his speech.

Upcoming National Gathering at Petrova Niva

The anniversary is a prelude to the traditional national commemorative gathering in the Petrova Niva area near Malko Tarnovo, which will take place on August 22nd. The program includes:

• Scientific conference at 1:00 PM
• Welcoming the participants of the "In the Footsteps of the Preobrazhenie Participants" march (4:00 PM)
• Photo-documentary exhibition on 130 years of the Thracian movement
• Requiem prayer at the "Saint Petka" memorial temple-ossuary (8:00 PM)
• Commemorative ceremony in front of the memorial (8:30 PM)

The Mayor of Malko Tarnovo, Iliyan Yanchev, announced that large-scale renovation works are being carried out in the area, including on the road to the site and the museum collection, so that the event can be hosted in a proper manner.
