Burgas will host the "Regional Forum for Climate Innovation – Burgas 2026" on October 2 and 4. The forum is part of "Regions for Climate," a project funded under the EU's Horizon Europe programme, and will bring together institutions, experts, young people, civic groups and local residents.
Burgas council's local unit for sustainability and climate adaptation meets on October 2 at the College of Tourism in Lake Park. Under the theme "Go green. On October 4, the event moves outdoors to the new green corridor in the Zornitsa neighbourhood. Children from the Zvezditsa-Zornitsa kindergarten open the day at 2:00 pm with a performance and the "Children Adopt Trees" initiative. A graffiti workshop, a children's drawing contest, and other activities and sports games follow.
Sign-up for the "Outrun Yourself" family run starts at 2:30 pm, and the race itself starts at 3:30 pm, over a distance of 5 km.
Cyclists will gather at 4:00 pm on the bridge by the Southern Salt Pans, and the ride sets off at 5:00 pm together with riders from the international "COP31 – Bike Ride" relay. Local cyclists will join the relay as it passes through Burgas.
The relay ends at the UN climate change conference in Antalya. This year cyclists are covering more than 22,000 km across over 20 countries on three continents.
