Celebration of Bulgarian Folklore in Burgas

With the concert-spectacle "A Life Filled with Song", the city of Burgas will pay tribute to the creative journey of one of the iconic figures in Bulgarian folklore – Maria Markova-Halacheva. The occasion is twofold – an 80th anniversary and 70 years of dedication to the stage.

"Folklore is a living art that connects generations."

When and where?

The event will take place on July 19 (Saturday) at 6:30 PM at the Summer Theater. The Municipality of Burgas has provided free admission for all fans of folk music.

The legacy of a great artist

The path of Maria Markova-Halacheva is an inspiration to many:

  • An educator with a calling: A long-time teacher at the German Language High School, she has passed on her love for folklore to hundreds of children.
  • Creator of talents: Founder of the children's ensemble "Zelenika," where she nurtures the young generation in traditions.
  • Guardian of traditions: Leader of ensembles such as "Mayak" and "Kitka," proving that folk song has no age.

The jubilee concert will bring her students and prominent folk performers from the region together on one stage. This is an invitation to every Bulgarian to experience the magic of our native music and to honor the person who has made the preservation of our identity her mission.
