4 Spokes, 20 Cities and 20,000 Emotions: Female Motorcyclists in Bulgaria Embark on a National Journey for the 20th Anniversary of IFRD

In the period from 01 to 03 May 2026, Bulgaria’s roads will turn into the stage of an unprecedented moto event. The women riders’ association "Lady Bikers MPowered Bulgaria" is organising a national three-day ride dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the International Female Riders’ Day – "International Female Ride Day" (IFRD). The initiative aims to bring together women from all over the country in one shared journey and to showcase the strength of the female presence in the motorcycle community.

Under the global motto "Women Accelerate – 20 Years of Power" the moto tour will unite the participants in a spirit of solidarity, safe riding and a clear affirmation of their place on the road and within the motorcycling community. The idea is not only to mark the anniversary, but also to show that women are not an exception in this world – they actively contribute to its development.

Scale with no equivalent: 4 starting points and strong support

For the first time, the initiative will start simultaneously from four key locations so as to cover the widest possible part of the country and give more women the opportunity to join in.

On 01 May four groups will set off from Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna and Byala (Ruse). In Plovdiv, the start will be given with the support of "VAGABONDS MC", who are joining as hosts and partners of the event. All four routes will then converge in the "heart" of Bulgaria – Kazanlak, where their host will be the moto club "The Black Roses MC Bulgaria". There, a symbolic unification of the ride branches will take place before the column continues its journey towards the Black Sea coast.

The route: "20 cities – 20 000 emotions"

In honour of the two decades since the creation of IFRD, the association has set itself the ambitious goal of making the ride not just a run, but a true celebration of the community. The anniversary message is encoded in the symbolic number 20: "20 cities, 200 hugs, 2 000 smiles, 20 000 emotions!".

On 02 May (Saturday) – the official IFRD day – the united column will depart from Kazanlak towards Karnobat, where the hosts will be "THE MONSTERS MCC". The route then continues to Aytos, hosted by "Night Riders MC Bulgaria", and the day ends in Shkorpilovtsi on the sea shore.

On 03 May (Sunday) the festive ride passes through Burgas. For a second consecutive year the women riders will be hosted there by "Sea Brothers MCC Bulgaria". In every town along the route, local moto communities and citizens are expected to welcome the column and share in the spirit of the event.

Why does this event matter?

"International Female Ride Day" is a global initiative held in over 120 countries around the world. Over the past 20 years it has changed both statistics and attitudes – today women account for nearly one quarter of motorcycle owners worldwide, and in some markets every fifth bike is already registered to a woman. This is a sign that women are not just present, but actively participate in and shape the development of moto culture.

The team of "Lady Bikers MPowered Bulgaria" emphasises that "this is not just a moto ride – it is a movement which shows that women are not simply joining motorcycling, they are developing it and changing it". The initiative seeks to inspire more women to get on a bike, to raise the visibility of women’s clubs and to encourage mutual respect among all road users – regardless of gender.

The event offers rare opportunities for impressive footage of organised women’s moto columns, interviews with riders who break stereotypes, and reports on tolerance and mutual respect between men’s moto clubs and women’s organisations in Bulgaria.
