The Energy Minister: Bulgaria to Become a Regional Hub for High-Tech Business
The Minister of Energy Zhecho Stankov opened a discussion where he presented Bulgaria's ambition to establish itself as a regional center for high-tech activities. Key to this goal will be the projects for new capacities at the Kozloduy NPP, the construction of pumped storage hydroelectric power plants and energy storage batteries, which will ensure sufficient secure and affordable electricity for the needs of gigafactories and data centers.

In May 2025, the State Agency for Metrological and Technical Supervision (DAMTN) conducted inspections of children's toys in commercial establishments across the country. The inspectors found that more than half of the inspected products do not meet the safety and labeling requirements.

On June 3, 2025, the European Commission officially registered "Strandzha Herbal Tea" as a Protected Designation of Origin in the EU. This opens up new opportunities for local producers who meet the approved specification and will be controlled by an accredited certification body.
Employers in Bulgaria with new attitudes towards hiring foreigners
The project team "Functionally Sustainable Migration and Integration in Bulgaria" (FSMI) conducted a survey among 84 employers in the country regarding their attitudes towards hiring foreign workers. The results will be presented at a national round table on September 25, 2025 in Sofia, where the challenges and opportunities of legal migration and integration in Bulgaria will be discussed.
Regulatory authorities are checking fuel prices for potential violations
The Commission for Protection of Competition and the Commission for Consumer Protection are taking joint actions to establish possible abuses in the pricing of fuels by "Lukoil Neftochim Burgas" AD and "Lukoil Bulgaria" EOOD. Road repair works on the water supply and sewerage network are closing an intersection in the capital.
Due to repair work on the water supply and sewerage network on Georgi Shaguenov Street in Sofia, the intersection of this street with Antim I Street will be closed to traffic from 11:00 am on June 3 to June 5, 2025. Citizens are urged to comply with the temporary traffic management in the area.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications has published a draft for the determination of the conditions for the selection of carriers for the provision of passenger rail transport in the country. It is planned that the railway network will be divided into three regions, with each being served by a corresponding regional depot. The contracts will be for a term of 12 years, and the procedure for their conclusion will be announced by the end of July 2025.

Temporary restriction of traffic on road I-5 for the holding of the traditional Rose Festival
