Enhanced security measures for Bulgarian airspace

In response to the changing geopolitical situation and drone incidents in neighboring Romania, Bulgaria is taking serious steps to ensure national security. Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov announced that as of July 31, the protection of the country's skies has been significantly strengthened.

"As a result of what is happening in Romania, we have strengthened the surveillance of the airspace by deploying additional forces and assets," stated Minister Stoyanov.

What forces and assets have been deployed?

The decision comes after a confirmed incident involving a drone entering Bulgarian airspace, reported by President Rumen Radev. Duty shifts continue around the clock, with the Ministry of Defense monitoring the situation in real time.
