Record levels of wind energy in Europe
The share of electricity from wind farms in Europe over the past 24 hours amounted to 17.7% of total consumption, according to data from the latest WindEurope Power Numbers platform bulletin.
Production is distributed between onshore and offshore wind farms, with onshore turbines continuing to be the primary source of green energy.
Key indicators:
- Onshore wind turbines: 16% of the total amount (858 gigawatt-hours).
- Offshore wind farms: 1.7% of the total amount (93 gigawatt-hours).
Leaders and laggards in the sector
The countries in Europe with the largest share of wind energy in their total electricity mix are:
- Denmark: 61.9%
- Sweden: 56.4%
- Lithuania: 48.1%
By comparison, in Bulgaria, the share of wind energy over the last 24 hours was only 1.3%, which is equivalent to 1.2 gigawatt-hours of produced energy.
Largest producers by volume
The most significant amounts of electricity in absolute values were produced by:
- Germany: 275.2 gigawatt-hours
- Sweden: 151.6 gigawatt-hours
- Spain: 131.2 gigawatt-hours
