The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) announced a second procedure for the construction of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles on the roads in Bulgaria.

The procedure aims to support micro, small and medium-sized enterprises for the construction of infrastructure for electric vehicles on the main and comprehensive road Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T).

The total budget of the procedure is 10 million euros, with the maximum European funding for one project being 256,000 euros. The intensity of the funding depends on the type of company: up to 65% for micro and small enterprises, up to 55% for medium-sized enterprises, and up to 35% for large enterprises.

The projects must provide modern charging infrastructure for light vehicles on the main TEN-T network (charging centers with a minimum of 600 kW and at least two charging points with an output power of 150 kW), as well as for freight vehicles.

The procedure will be open for applications for a period of 6 months – until July 16, 2026. It is important to note that projects in the South-Western region cannot be funded.

The financing of this measure is from the “Transport Connectivity” Programme 2021–2027. The first procedure, whose value is nearly 2.7 million BGN, approved six projects for the construction of charging centers.

Deputy Prime Minister Grozdan Karadzhov noted that through the financing under the first and second procedures, with a total amount of nearly 30 million BGN, the foundations of a national network of fast charging stations will be laid.
