New impetus for energy connectivity
During the INRES 2026 forum in Istanbul, representatives from Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Georgia reaffirmed their commitment to the implementation of the "Green Energy Corridor" project. Deputy Minister of Energy Kiril Temelkov announced that a roadmap is being prepared to identify and accelerate the key activities of the project.
"Security of supply depends on connectivity and diversification, combined with decarbonization and affordable prices," noted Temelkov.
Balanced energy mix
According to the Ministry of Energy, the future of the energy transition requires a pragmatic combination of:
- Nuclear energy
- Natural gas
- Renewable sources (wind and solar energy)
- Hydro energy
The main focus is on grid connectivity, which will allow each country to effectively utilize its resources and share them with its partners, ensuring socio-economic benefits.
We remind you that the topic of energy cooperation was also a priority during the recent meeting between the Vice President of Bulgaria Iliana Iotova and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Baku.
