Numerous reports have been received by the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) from citizens regarding the receipt of SMS messages in the name of the institution. The messages "inform" about the NHIF's readiness to refund funds. These are fraudulent messages, the NHIF warns.

The Fund does not send messages to citizens with content related to owed sums/sums for reimbursement, as well as those relating to their health insurance status and other personal information.

The NHIF notifies patients via messages only about the status of their protocols for prescribing medicinal products paid for by the NHIF/RHI, as well as for issued protocols and applications for the provision of assistive devices and repairs, and for approvals issued by the NHIF/RHI for received applications.

Upon receiving such letters with suspicious content, the NHIF notifies the competent authorities to investigate cybercrimes.

In June, the NHIF announced that reports from citizens about receiving fake emails in the name of the institution were increasing. The Ministry of Interior at the time said that a phishing campaign was underway in the name of the NHIF by sending a link via email in which personal data should be filled in.
