Temporary suspension of the health insurance status system
The National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) has announced an upcoming interruption in the electronic updating of citizens' health insurance status. In the period from August 26 to 31, the automatic reflection of paid contributions will not be possible.
The reason for the interruption is a technical update of the National Revenue Agency (NRA) systems, aimed at increasing network security.
What should citizens do?
- If you intend to use medical services during this period, pay your contributions no later than August 26.
- This will save you difficulties in proving your health insurance rights to medical facilities.
It is important to remember that health insurance is mandatory in Bulgaria. Everyone who is not a compliant payer must pay the full amount for medical and dental care, with the exception of emergency cases. To restore rights, it is necessary to cover contributions for the previous five years.
