The “Vazrazhdane” party has submitted a bill for changes to the Law on Preschool and School Education, which would introduce the study of the subject “Virtues and Religions” from the beginning of the new school year.

The author of the proposal is Daniel Prodanov, Deputy Chairman of the Education and Science Committee.

The motivations for the bill emphasize the constitutional role of Orthodoxy. The possibility for parents to choose a program without confessional education is provided.

Daniel Prodanov expressed hope that the bill will be approved on first and second reading in order to enter the curriculum for first grade in 2026/2027.

Prodanov will request a meeting of the Education and Science Committee after it was left without a chairman. The changes have been discussed in working groups in the committee.

The introduction of the subject was also discussed on first reading in October.
