New rules for crossing the "Malko Tarnovo – Dereköy" border checkpoint
Starting Monday, August 3, the "Malko Tarnovo – Dereköy" border checkpoint is expanding its scope of operations. Following agreements between the Bulgarian Customs Agency and the Turkish Ministry of Trade, light commercial vehicles weighing up to 3.5 tons will now be permitted to pass through the checkpoint.
The change aims to ease the significant traffic through the main "Kapitan Andreevo" and "Lesovo" checkpoints.
Requirements for carriers:
- Goods must be under a transit regime and secured with customs seals.
- Vehicles must possess valid cargo transport licenses and international transport permits.
- A capacity of 500 vehicles per direction per day, or a maximum of 3,000 vehicles per week, has been set.
This measure is a long-awaited step, as until now, the passage of any cargo vehicles through this border checkpoint was prohibited.
