The leader of “We Continue the Change” (PP) Asen Vasilev stated on BNT that it is necessary to restore the price ceiling for electricity for businesses. He explained that high electricity prices are the main driver of inflation at the moment.

“In my opinion, the cabinet should develop and submit to parliament a package quite quickly, as we did when the war in Ukraine began. This package starts not so much with fuel prices, it starts with the main driver of inflation at the moment, which is the price of electricity for businesses,” he pointed out.

Vasilev recalled that until October last year there was a ceiling, above which businesses received compensation. However, from October, this ceiling was removed, leading to double and triple electricity bills and, accordingly, an increase in the prices of goods.

He also commented on the influence of oil and natural gas prices on the price of electricity. According to Vasilev, the high prices of natural gas used for electricity production in Greece will increase electricity prices for businesses and will cause inflationary pressure.

In a comment on the caretaker government, Vasilev emphasized that the ministers were appointed by Andrey Gyurov and Iliana Yotova, and PP has no relation to their selection or policy. He also commented on the issue of vote buying in the elections, stressing the need for the Ministry of Interior to counter this practice.

Regarding the adopted extension budget, Vasilev said that the texts are not so problematic.
