US President Donald Trump plans to impose tariffs on imports from eight European countries, causing shock and uncertainty.

Trump threatened to impose a 10% duty from February 1st, with a subsequent increase to 25% in the summer if an agreement is not reached.

The group of countries under threat includes France, Germany, Great Britain, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands and Finland. The European Union has warned of its readiness to retaliate.
