The latest black road safety statistics have shaken Bulgarian society. According to an official statement from the press center of the Ministry of Interior (MVR), the past day is characterized by an extremely high concentration of traffic accidents.

The summarized data show extremely alarming figures – a total of 25 serious accidents were recorded nationwide, in which five people lost their lives, and 34 sustained injuries of varying severity.

The capital Sofia emerges as the epicenter of incidents. In the city district, 22 minor road incidents and one initial serious accident with two victims were documented. The dramatic development occurs after midnight, when a signal about an extremely serious traffic accident is received at around 2:00 AM.

The most tragic moment is the collision between a bus and a passenger car, in which one person died on the spot, and four were urgently transported to a hospital. The information is confirmed by the press center of MVR and provided to the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency (BTA).

The annual statistics further intensify the concern – since the beginning of the year, 261 people have lost their lives due to road incidents, which raises serious questions for institutions regarding road safety and prevention.
