Current road safety data in Bulgaria
Over the past 24 hours, Bulgarian roads were the scene of 19 serious accidents. Although there were no fatalities in the last 24 hours, 31 people sustained injuries of varying severity, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
Statistics for 2026 show an alarming trend with an increase in fatal incidents compared to the same period in 2025.
Statistics since the beginning of the year:
- Total number of serious accidents: 3453
- Road fatalities: 245
- Injured citizens: 4290
For comparison, during the same period in 2025, there were 221 road fatalities. This means that since the beginning of the current year, there have been 24 more deaths, which is a clear signal of the need for increased caution while driving.
Since the beginning of the month alone, 27 people have died in 421 incidents, and 529 have sought medical attention following road traffic accidents.
