Despite the immense efforts of doctors, 35-year-old Hristina has died after a nearly three-week battle for her life in a coma. The tragic news was confirmed by the University Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment (UMBAL) in Burgas, where the woman was admitted after a severe ATV accident in the resort complex Sunny Beach. She was hospitalized in the intensive care unit, where the teams fought for her recovery.
Tragic Accident in Sunny Beach
The woman's death is the culmination of a horrifying series of events that began on August 14. At the height of the summer season, Hristina and her 3-year-old son were struck by a recreational vehicle. The ATV was being driven by 18-year-old Nikola Burgazliev. The incident, which cast a shadow over the summer resort, attracted public attention and raised questions about the safety of recreational vehicles.
The medical teams from UMBAL - Burgas made colossal efforts to save the lives and health of all victims of the incident.
After the incident, the condition of Hristina's 3-year-old child was critical. On August 24, he was urgently transported by medical helicopter from Burgas to the "Pirogov" hospital in the capital, where he remains under the care of doctors in the Children's Intensive Care Unit to this day. The incident did not spare others. In addition to the mother and child, two other children and a hotel employee were also injured.
Investigation and Public Reaction
The investigation into the case has been entrusted to the National Investigation Service (NISS), which underscores the seriousness of the circumstances. The initial decision to release the accused Burgazliev under house arrest caused public dissatisfaction and a sharp reaction from the prosecution. As a result of the state prosecution's protest, the court in Burgas reviewed the measure and ordered him to remain in custody. This decision was seen by many as a necessary step to ensure justice and prevent similar tragedies in the future.
