Renewed fire at a hotel in Sunny Beach
The situation at a hotel in Sunny Beach remains critical after the fire, in which a 47-year-old man died earlier today, has reignited. The fire department reported that in the late hours, a cable caught fire in a shaft running vertically through the building.
The incident began during repair work: a spark from welding ignited the ground floor.
Chronology of events:
- Over 120 tourists were promptly evacuated from the building.
- By 7:30 PM, the fire was initially brought under control.
- Three workers were performing repairs when a spark caused the fire.
- Two of the workers managed to get out, but the third remained trapped.
The Labor Inspectorate has already begun an investigation to determine whether all safety requirements were met during the welding activities. Fire crews continue to work on extinguishing the shaft.
