Serious incident with a fatality in the Burgas region
Over the past 24 hours, the country has reported significant activity from fire departments. According to the General Directorate for Fire Safety and Population Protection, a total of 87 fires were extinguished as of 6:00 a.m. this morning.
The most serious incident occurred in the village of Polski Izvor, Burgas region, where a 71-year-old man died in a fire at a private home. The causes of the tragedy are currently being investigated by law enforcement authorities.
Firefighting team statistics
- Total number of reports: 136 incidents.
- Fires with material damage: 14 cases (3 in residential buildings, 1 in an industrial facility, 6 in vehicles).
- Fires without direct damage: 73 cases, including 34 grass fires and 37 waste fires.
- Rescue activities: 45 operations were carried out, of which 3 were for serious traffic accidents.
Four false alarms were also registered, which additionally strained the teams' resources. The General Directorate for Fire Safety and Population Protection urges increased caution when handling open flames and heating appliances.
