Saint John of Rila: Feast of the Bulgarian People and Spirituality

Today, the Orthodox Church celebrates the feast of Saint John of Rila the Miracle-Worker. The day is dedicated to honoring the saint, the patron saint of the Bulgarian people and Bulgarian doctors, a feast of spiritual unity.

Today, the Orthodox Church celebrates the feast day of St. John of Rila the Miracle Worker, one of the most important dates in the Orthodox calendar. This day is dedicated to honoring the saint, who is considered the heavenly patron of the Bulgarian people. The atmosphere in the churches from the morning is filled with solemnity, and believers flock to pay tribute to his memory.

This day is also Father_q_s Day, which adds additional significance to the holiday. St. John of Rila is a figure who occupies a central place in Bulgarian history and culture. He is considered the founder of the Rila Monastery, which is not only the largest, but also the most influential spiritual center in the country. The monastery, located among the majestic mountains, is a witness to centuries of Bulgarian history and spirituality.

It is believed that the miraculous relics of the saint, which rest in the Rila Holy Cloister, attract pilgrims from all over the world. People from different countries come here, guided by their faith, to touch the holy place and seek comfort and hope.

In addition to being the patron of the Bulgarian people, St. John of Rila is also the patron saint of Bulgarian doctors. This fact emphasizes his role as a protector and intercessor before God, both for the spiritual and physical needs of the people. The feast day of St. John of Rila is a day of spiritual unity and of reverence for one of the most significant saints in Bulgarian history.
