The Land Forces are celebrating their battle day today, marking 147 years since their establishment and 140 years since the remarkable victory of the Bulgarian infantry in the Serbo-Bulgarian War, announced the press center of the Ministry of Defense (MoD).

The festive celebrations begin with a ritual of laying wreaths and flowers in front of the "Five Captains" monument in Slivnitsa. Servicemen from the Land Forces will march on foot "In the footsteps of the Slivnitsa heroes", tracing the path from the "Captains" monument to the granite monument "Heroes of Slivnitsa" in the center of the city. A ceremonial ritual will be held there, including the laying of wreaths and flowers as a sign of respect.

The culmination of the celebrations will take place in front of the Pantheon of those who died in the Serbo-Bulgarian War in the village of Gurgulyat. The place is saturated with history, a monument to the heroism of the Bulgarian soldiers who gave their lives in defense of the homeland.

In front of the Pantheon, President Rumen Radev will receive the honorary guard and will deliver a speech, according to information from the press secretariat of the head of state. The President will pay tribute to those who died in the Serbo-Bulgarian War, which took place in 1885. After that, he will view the photo exhibition "In the service of the people and the Motherland" and will observe the static display of military equipment, weapons and equipment.

The celebrations also include the Deputy Minister of Defense Radostin Iliev, the Chief of Defense Admiral Emil Eftimov, as well as senior officers from the Bulgarian Army, emphasizing the significance of the holiday.

The Land Forces Day is celebrated by decision of the Council of Ministers, taken on November 16, 1992, according to information from the "Reference" department of BTA.

On November 7th of this year, the 140th anniversary of the Serbo-Bulgarian War was marked with the laying of wreaths and a ceremonial inspection in front of the Memorial Complex "Heroes of Slivnitsa". Paying tribute to the heroes of this war is a testament to eternal gratitude for their sacrifice and the importance of national memory.
