Within the framework of the international conference STRATCOM Summit 2026, Bulgaria's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nadezhda Neynski, held a meeting yesterday in Istanbul with the Head of the StratCom Unit at the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, Prof. Burhanettin Duran. For his part, Prof. Duran presented a globe to the Foreign Minister.
The two discussed issues related to strategic communications, countering disinformation, and the development of cooperation in the field of public diplomacy. Our top diplomat expressed gratitude for the invitation to participate in STRATCOM Summit 2026 and emphasized the importance of deepening the dialogue in this direction in the context of a dynamic information environment. Nadezhda Neynski informed her interlocutor about the temporary coordination mechanism she is creating to counter disinformation and combat hybrid threats and maintain information resilience in connection with the expected intensification of attempts at disinformation campaigns and manipulation of foreign policy information in the context of the upcoming extraordinary parliamentary elections in Bulgaria on April 19th of this year. For his part, Professor Duran presented the working methods of the unit he heads.
An intention was also expressed to strengthen cooperation between Bulgaria and Turkey in the field of countering hybrid threats and improving information resilience, including through the exchange of good practices for capacity building and institutional coordination.
