Important changes in access to insulin therapy
Starting May 31, 2027, the sale of certain types of insulin will be discontinued, the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) reports. The list of products withdrawn from the pharmacy network is available on the institution's official website.
Important for patients: Do not attempt to change your medication or interrupt your treatment on your own without consulting your endocrinologist.
What are the steps for patients?
- Consultation with a doctor: All actions regarding changes to therapy must be coordinated with the attending physician.
- Validity of protocols: Existing prescriptions and protocols remain in effect until their expiration date or until the specialist decides otherwise.
- Awareness: Doctors have been notified of the changes in a timely manner and will determine the new treatment plan for each patient.
Health institutions urge those affected not to panic, as the change has been announced in advance to ensure a smooth transition to alternative treatment. In case of questions, patients can contact their endocrinologist or general practitioner.
