Criminal group for distribution of psychotropic substances uncovered

A father and son have been charged with organizing a large-scale scheme for the distribution of psychotropic drugs via a courier company in Sofia. During a specialized operation, over 3,000 blister packs of medication, which can only be dispensed with a green prescription, were discovered.

"The two men used rented premises in the Manastirski Livadi, Druzhba, and Knyazhevo neighborhoods to store their goods," explained Commissioner Asen Ushatov from the Sixth District Police Department – SDVR.

Details of the scheme

Investigators clarified that the two do not have an employment relationship with the courier company, but were on close terms with employees there, which helped them carry out their illegal activities. In addition to the medications, 25 bags of clothing from protected brands were also found in the warehouses.

Pre-trial detention measures

At the moment, the father and son are detained for 72 hours and have been charged with possession of narcotic substances with intent to distribute. The prosecution is continuing its work on the case, and the entire logistics chain is being investigated.
