Sozopol council voted today on the town's first strategic noise map. Mayor Tihomir Yanakiev tabled the proposal.
The council acted after many complaints from residents and visitors about loud noise, the town hall said. The tourist town has not had such a document before.
The map is based on analysis and noise measurements. It shows the main sources of noise and how they affect the town and the people who live there.
According to the council, the document describes the current state of the town's sound environment and sets and rates noise levels. It will also help plan steps to cut the harm that noise causes.
It is the council's 34th session, and it began at 9.30am. Councillors must also decide on aid for five residents, financial support for leading athletes, and the updated budget forecast for the council's local services for 2027-2029.
