Caretaker Minister Irena Georgieva Takes Over the Ministry of Tourism

Irena Georgieva took over the post of caretaker Minister of Tourism from Miroslav Borshosh. Priorities, results, and future projects for sustainable development of the sector and the establishment of Bulgaria as a competitive tourist destination were discussed.

The outgoing Minister of Tourism Miroslav Borshosh officially handed over the leadership of the Ministry of Tourism to the newly appointed caretaker Minister of Tourism Irena Georgieva.

During the meeting, the two discussed the priorities in the work of the department, the results achieved so far, and the projects that are to be developed.

Among the main highlights were the efforts for sustainable development of the sector, the improvement of the business environment, and the establishment of Bulgaria as a competitive and recognizable tourist destination.

Miroslav Borshosh stated that the sector remains in the hands of a proven professional with extensive experience.

Irena Georgieva expressed her readiness to continue the active dialogue and work with the municipalities and the tourism industry.

Georgieva pointed out that she will work to build on what has been achieved and to establish Bulgaria as a year-round tourist destination.

She positively assessed the work of the ministry under the leadership of Miroslav Borshosh.

During the conversation, it was emphasized that continuity in policies and good coordination are key to the stable and sustainable development of Bulgarian tourism.

Irena Georgieva graduated in "Sociology" from Sofia University. She has nearly 25 years of management experience in tourism.
