The management of the State Agency for Refugees declares full support for a large-scale health screening, organized jointly with the Ministry of Health, the World Health Organization, and the Bulgarian Red Cross.
During a working meeting with the chief state health inspector Dr. Angel Kunchev and Tsvetalina Anaenieva - consultant in the WHO National Office, the head Ivan Ivanov emphasized the importance of preventive medical activities.
Mobile medical teams will conduct targeted examinations in several key registration and reception centers: "Ovcha Kupel", "Military Ramp", "Vrazhdebnа" in Sofia and the center in Harmanli. Logistical support will be provided by the Bulgarian Red Cross under the methodological guidance of WHO.
Given the significant number of refugees from Ukraine, the initiative will also cover other locations - Sofia, Blagoevgrad region, Plovdiv region, Harmanli, Dobrich, Burgas, and Varna.
The main goal of the screening is early identification of tuberculosis cases, minimizing the risk of spread, and timely referral for diagnosis and treatment. Experts guaranteed full compliance with requirements for personal awareness, safety, and confidentiality.
Dr. Kunchev and Tsvetalina Anaenieva emphasized that all medical activities will be carried out with strict respect for personal dignity and voluntary consent of the examined persons.
