The Prosecutor's Office has initiated an investigation regarding the suspicious allocation of financial funds in the structure of the Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA), following a signal about potential violations in bonus payments.

The official signal, received in June, contains indications of a possible crime related to the distribution of additional remuneration. In response, a thorough investigation was assigned on July first by the Anti-Corruption Commission with a two-month deadline for completion.

According to data from the "Road Safety Institute", the total amount of distributed bonuses amounts to the impressive 2,270,000 leva. The money was directed to a limited group of 174 management employees in various system units.

The non-governmental organization points out that the sum of 2,274,654 leva was distributed among the three Board of Directors members and RIA directors, which was officially justified as compensation for "work well done".

From the agency, in turn, they categorically state that the financial funds were paid to all employees in the system - including the Regional Road Administrations, the National Road Management and the Institute of Roads and Bridges. The distribution was carried out based on the annual performance evaluations of employees in the respective structures.

The upcoming investigation will ultimately clarify the circumstances surrounding this financial case, which has sparked serious public interest and questions about the transparency of remuneration in state administration.
