Serious accidents and Ministry of Interior statistics
Over the past 24 hours, 22 serious accidents have been registered in the country, resulting in 24 people being injured, the Ministry of Interior's press center reports. In the capital Sofia, 32 minor accidents and one serious one were recorded, with one road user injured.
Since the beginning of the year, road accidents have claimed 276 lives, which is 36 more compared to the same period last year.
General statistics since the beginning of 2026 indicate 3,872 serious accidents and 4,811 injured. Since the beginning of the month alone, five people have died in 99 incidents.
Current information on border crossings
- Danube Bridge (Ruse-Giurgiu): Traffic has been fully restored in both lanes following the completion of repairs.
- Oryahovo-Bechet and Svishtov-Zimnicea: Ferry connections are temporarily suspended due to critically low water levels in the Danube River.
- Border with Greece: Traffic is normal. Only passenger cars and minibuses up to 3.5 tons can pass through Rudozem, Zlatograd, Makaza, and Ivaylovgrad, while all types of vehicles can pass through Kulata, Ilinden, and Kapitan Petko Voyvoda.
- Turkey, Serbia, and North Macedonia: Traffic through all border crossings is proceeding without difficulties.
