Inflatable "banana boat" incident near Aheloy sends six to hospital
A serious incident involving an inflatable water "banana boat" near Aheloy has left six people injured. Initial reports indicated three injured, but the Ministry of Transport and Communications later confirmed that the total number of victims is six.
"The facility was operating in violation of safety regulations and does not possess the necessary documents," the ministry stated.
What are the consequences for the violators?
- Three of the injured have been admitted for treatment in hospitals in Burgas and Sunny Beach.
- The jet ski operator will be sanctioned as an individual due to a lack of legal capacity/certification.
- The prosecution office will be notified, and penalties will be imposed on the beach concessionaire.
- The Ministry of Tourism will be notified of the established violations.
The situation is complicated by the fact that the water base does not exist as a registered entity, which makes it difficult to directly impose sanctions on the company operating the illegal facility. Law enforcement authorities continue to work on the case.
