Unit 6 of the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant will be shut down today, the plant announced.
During preparations for the planned shutdown of the unit tomorrow for the replacement of a safety device, a defect was detected in another device, which necessitated the shutdown of the unit starting today.
The available spare devices have been sent to two independent scientific organizations, where they will undergo the necessary analyses and checks before being reinstalled, according to the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant.
The plant states that there is no release of pollutants into the environment.
After the planned activities are completed, Unit 6 will be reconnected to the country's energy system.
Unit 5 is operating on schedule.
